My WordCamp Kerala 2024 experience: volunteering & exploring Kerala
Discover my incredible experience at WordCamp Kerala 2024 as a volunteer. From connecting with WordPress enthusiasts to exploring Kerala’s rich culture and honoring a dear community member, this journey was unforgettable!
Hello Everyone,
It’s been a while since I last published a blog post or shared an update about my journey. If you’re unaware, I’ve recently embarked on an exciting new chapter as a Marketing Coordinator at Barn2 Plugins.
This role has been incredibly rewarding, helping me grow both professionally and personally. It’s also allowed me to stabilize my financial position, which now supports me to contribute more. However, it was slightly reduced earlier due to the lack of support (financial). That said, I’ve stayed actively involved in the community, attending and volunteering at various WordCamps, including my upcoming stint at WordCamp Delhi on November 30th and December 1st at the NDMC Convention Centre.
WordCamp Kerala: A Memorable Experience
One of the most unforgettable moments of this year was volunteering at WordCamp Kerala. The experience was mind-blowing, filled with learning, connections, and cherished memories. Traveling with Hardeep Asrani from Kanpur to Delhi, and then to Kozhikode via Delhi, set the tone for an incredible journey.
At WordCamp Kerala, I had the privilege of meeting an amazing group of people, including: Ganga Kafle, Sahil, Hari, Aditya Kane, Vishal Mukadam, Bigul, Gijo Verghese, Arun Shenoy, Siddhant Wadhwani, Mujeebu Rahman and Dr Nisamudheen Neerad, Arun P K, Arvind Ajith, Ajith R N, Ajay Kumar Jain, Akshya Rane, Lax Mariappan
And All the sponsors (excluding WPRemote).
Honoring Sharankrishna V P
A deeply moving part of this journey was the loss of Sharankrishna V P, a talented UI/UX Designer at Midnay and an active WordPress Kerala community member. Sharankrishna was also volunteering with us, but tragically, he passed away in an accident on November 12th. This devastating news left the entire WordCamp Kerala community in sorrow. May his soul rest in peace, and his remarkable contributions to our community always be remembered.
Exploring Kerala
Outside the WordCamp, I had the chance to explore the beauty and culture of Kerala. Staying at a beautiful Airbnb with friends, we enjoyed roaming Kozhikode, visiting LuLu Mall, relaxing at Kozhikode Beach during a stunning sunset, and indulging in Kerala’s famous halwa, banana chips, and chocolates—special thanks to Bigul for the sweets!
I also visited Kochi, where I stayed near Fort Kochi at the Santa Maria Hotel. Exploring the city was a treat, from experiencing the Water Metro for the first time and roaming the iconic Broadway Market to witnessing the mesmerizing Kathakali performance on Kichaka Vadha, a story from the Mahabharata. The ferry rides during sunset were a cherry on top, offering serene views of the seaside.
Thank You, WordCamp Kerala!
From the enriching sessions and vibrant community spirit to the cultural experiences and the connections I’ve made, WordCamp Kerala has left an indelible mark on my heart.
Thank you, WordCamp Kerala, for the memories, growth, and inspiration.
Jai WordPress!
