An important update that I wanted to hold for a few more weeks but can’t.
Let’s start this update with some good moments.
Recent experience at PHPCamp
Before going ahead, I recently attended PHPCamp in Pune as a volunteer. I can say that I had a blast and learned and experienced a lot more, especially the nature of this event being (Un) Conference.
My Journey with the WordPress Community
It was an amazing journey being involved with the WordPress community and experiencing support from folks around the world.
I attended four in-person WordCamps, one NetGen Online event as a volunteer, and was selected to volunteer at the most popular flagship WordCamp Europe, but I couldn’t make it due to visa issues.
Although I will be attending almost 8-10 WordCamps (especially WordCamp Asia 2025, thanks to Matt) before February 2025, and will continue to be a part of the WordPress community.
Latest Contribution History
A Difficult Decision
After thorough research and deep reflection, I come to a difficult but necessary decision. Sustaining my contributions and working towards the initiatives I believe in within the WordPress ecosystem (Community) isn’t possible.
While I remain committed to achieving the contribution goals I set for 2024 via Twitter/X, I’ll be attending a quite few events from February 2025. My WordPress contribution hours will also be reduced from 5 hours a week to 2 hours a week.
It has become evident that continuing on this path without the ability to self-fund my efforts is not feasible (no more questions, please).
What made me reduce my contributions?
The response from the companies who say they are always here to support contributors was disappointing. When you go to them seeking support, they either give a soft ‘No’ or don’t respond to your emails/messages.
Their lack of response broke me! 💔
I have given this much thought and believe it is my best course of action now.
A New Journey
I am excited to share that I am starting a new journey (wish me luck). I will reveal more about this new chapter in my life in the coming weeks.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
Cheers!
